Angels Landing of Zion National Park
Angels Landing is one of the most popular tourist attractions of the park.
If you have a few hours, it's definitely recommended to take this trail.
The trail starts at the Grotto (Zion shuttle
makes a stop there).

The first part of the trail goes up along the west rim of Zion Canyon, opening
wide-angle views of the canyon.

About a half hour later, the trail enters Refrigerator Canyon,
that received its name for its remarkable cooling effect,
much appreciated during the hot summer days.
In Refrigerator Canyon |
If you happen to cross Refrigerator Canyon at the right time of the day (approximately 2-3 p.m.),
you can catch the "golden glow" of its walls, produced by the sunlight reflected from the opposite wall.

After Refrigerator Canyon, the trail makes a few "switchbacks", taking you higher and higher, until you reach the plato on top of Angels Landing. It's rather wide and spacious, you can have some rest there.
On the way to the top of Angels Landing |
If you are not comfortable with the high heights, you can stop here and enjoy the views of Zion Canyon from high above.
Big Bend - a view from Angels Landing |
The trail continues even higher, to the very top of the mountain, but it becomes rather narrow, going along the steep walls, with chains attached to the walls to make your walk more comfortable. If you are really adventurous, you can go to the very top of Angels Landing and be rewarded with spectacular bird-eye views of Zion Canyon.
